St. Jean is an absolutely charming Catalan village. With the stunning Canigou mountain as a backdrop you can wander around the old streets and literally get lost in time. The streets are typically narrow with old village houses bedecked with colourful window boxes full of flowers in the summer time.

It is a tranquil traditional village with a boucherie, patisserie and tabac, all within walking distance. The Abeilles restaurant in the main street is well worth a visit and you can sit outside in a terraced area in the warmer months (April to September).

The lakes of St Jean Pla de Corts

 

Especially appealing to families with young children is the beautifully landscaped swimming lake (10 minute walk from the house) with its shady trees and waterside bar/restaurant (open in the summer). For long, lazy, hazy days relaxing at the beach the natural beauty of the lakes are hard to beat.

For the more adventurous there is an adventure park next to the lake with tree top rope ladders and a pulley swing across the lake.

St Jean Pla de Corts really is a wonderful find for those seeking to "get away from it all" for a while.
